Microsoft Teams (User Channel)
Employees open a DM with Dex in Microsoft Teams — right where they already work.
The Microsoft Teams User Channel is Dex's employee-facing chat surface inside Teams. It ships as a native Teams app, provisioned during Dex onboarding, and supports one-on-one DMs between employees and Dex. Today @mentions in shared Teams channels and CoAdmin usage via Teams are not yet supported — admin workflows run through the Microsoft Teams (admin) integration or the main Dex app.

For employees (self-service)
- DM Dex in Teams to open any IT request — password reset, software install, access request, device help
- Receive proactive messages from Dex when your task is done or needs your input
- Approve or decline sensitive actions with an Adaptive Card button in the DM
- Hand off to a human IT engineer from the same Teams thread when escalation is needed

How to configure Microsoft Teams (User Channel)
Onboarding takes minutes. Dex validates your credentials before saving them.
Setup steps
- 1During Dex onboarding, a Microsoft 365 tenant admin grants the Dex Teams app admin consent.
- 2Dex auto-registers a Bot Channel and publishes the Teams app manifest to your tenant app catalog.
- 3Assign the Dex app to all users or a pilot group via Teams App Setup Policies.
- 4Employees find "Dex" in their Teams app tray and start a DM — no per-user credentials.
No extra credentials
This integration is covered by your Microsoft 365 tenant authorization to Dex. There are no per-app credentials to create or rotate.
Requirements
- •Microsoft 365 tenant admin consent for the Dex Teams app
- •Conversation surface is DMs only today — @mentions in shared Teams channels and CoAdmin usage are not yet supported
- •Standard Teams licensing for every end user who will DM Dex
- •Dex maps each user via their Entra ID / Azure AD email for identity resolution
- •All messages flow through the Bot Framework and are captured in M365 compliance logs
