Pax8

Run your Pax8 cloud marketplace from chat - companies, catalog and pricing, orders, subscriptions, invoices, and usage, with a confirmation step before anything is written.

Dex connects to the Pax8 partner API so admins can manage cloud distribution conversationally - read customer companies, browse the product catalog and company-specific pricing, place orders, change subscription seat counts and terms, cancel subscriptions, and read invoices and consumption usage. Every write dry-runs where possible and stops for a human confirmation before it executes, because orders and cancellations move real money. Pax8 is an MSP global app: one partner credential on the master account covers every customer, and each child tenant is automatically confined to its own Pax8 company so it can never see another customer's billing or subscriptions. Admin-only - Pax8 is not exposed to end users.

What Dex does with Pax8

Dex handles both admin workflows and employee self-service — all policy-guardrailed and audit-logged.

A

For admins (Dex Pro)

  • Read customer companies in your Pax8 partner account - status, address, contacts, and self-service or approval settings
  • Create and update companies, and manage their contacts
  • Search the product catalog by vendor or name, and read provisioning details, dependencies, and company-specific pricing
  • Place orders - always dry-run first with a mock, then confirm before the real order is written
  • Manage subscriptions - change seat counts and terms, and cancel, with the commitment position stated before any downgrade or cancellation
  • Read invoices, draft (in-progress) billing, and consumption usage summaries and lines
  • Deploy as an MSP global app - one partner credential on the master, each child tenant confined to its own Pax8 company

Just ask Dex

Your team types a request in plain language. Dex investigates, plans, and executes — with the right guardrails.

Admin prompts

  • >Which of my Pax8 companies are Inactive, and why?
  • >What's Contoso's company-specific price for Microsoft 365 Copilot at 25 seats?
  • >Dry-run an order of 25 Copilot seats for Contoso and show me the result before placing it
  • >Increase Contoso's Business Premium subscription from 20 to 30 seats
  • >What will Contoso be billed this month, and what's their current outstanding balance?

Policy actions

Every action Dex can take on Pax8 is declared, scoped, and guardrailed. Admins control which apply, who approves them, and whether they're limited to self-service.

How to configure Pax8

Onboarding takes minutes. Dex validates your credentials before saving them.

Setup steps

  1. 1
In the Pax8 portal, go to Profile > Integrations > API credentials and create a partner API credential.
  2. 2
Copy the Client ID and the Client Secret - Pax8 shows the secret once, at creation.
  3. 3
In Dex, enable the Pax8 integration on the master account and paste the Client ID and Client Secret. Leave the company id blank on the master.
  4. 4
Dex validates the credentials with a live read before saving.
  5. 5
For each child tenant, set the company id to that customer's Pax8 company UUID so its access is confined to that one company.

Credentials required

client_id
Partner API Client ID from the Pax8 portal under Profile > Integrations > API credentials
client_secret
Partner API Client Secret - Pax8 shows it once at creation; generate a new credential if lost
company_id
Pax8 company UUID this tenant maps to - leave blank on the MSP master (unscoped), set per child tenant to confine access to that one company

Requirements

  • A Pax8 partner account with partner API access
  • Partner API Client ID and Client Secret from the Pax8 portal
  • Admin-only - Pax8 is not exposed to end users
  • For MSPs, deploy as a global app: one partner credential on the master, each child tenant scoped by its Pax8 company UUID
