MSP360 Managed Backup
Run your MSP360 Managed Backup fleet conversationally - companies, backup users, endpoints, plans, licenses, and nightly backup status.
Dex connects to MSP360 Managed Backup (the Management Console API) so admins can run the backup fleet from chat - manage companies (your customers), backup users and their endpoints, backup and restore plans, licenses, and storage destinations, plus read nightly backup monitoring to see which endpoints failed or went stale. Deploys as an MSP global app: one shared API login, and each Dex tenant is scoped to a single MSP360 company by its company id, so no customer sees another customer's data. This app is admin-only. Note that MSP360 RMM device health, disks, software, and patch data live in the separate MSP360 RMM app.
What Dex does with MSP360 Managed Backup
Dex handles both admin workflows and employee self-service — all policy-guardrailed and audit-logged.
For admins (Dex Pro)
- Manage companies (your customers) - view, create, update, and delete company records, settings, and limits
- Manage backup users and their storage destinations - create, update or disable, and delete accounts
- Inventory endpoints (computers) per user and authorize or deauthorize them to a user and company
- View, create, update, run, stop, and delete backup and restore plans on an endpoint
- Read nightly backup monitoring to find failed backups and endpoints that have not backed up recently
- Manage licenses - list, grant, release, and revoke - and review billing and storage usage
- Manage console administrators, including company-restricted administrators
- Import backup status nightly into a Dex dataset so fleet-wide questions answer instantly (runs from the unscoped MSP-master connection)
- Deploy as an MSP global app - one shared API login, each customer scoped to its own MSP360 company id
Just ask Dex
Your team types a request in plain language. Dex investigates, plans, and executes — with the right guardrails.
Admin prompts
- >Which backups failed last night, grouped by company?
- >List the endpoints that have not backed up in the last week
- >Disable the backup user casey@contoso.com
- >Start the backup plan on the endpoint named FIN-LAPTOP-014
- >How many licenses are taken, and how many expire soon?

How to configure MSP360 Managed Backup
Onboarding takes minutes. Dex validates your credentials before saving them.
Setup steps
- 1In the MSP360 Management Console, sign in as the account's main administrator (sub-administrators cannot create API credentials).
- 2Go to Settings > General and generate the Managed Backup API login and password. Regenerating the pair expires the previous one immediately.
- 3In Dex, enable the MSP360 Managed Backup integration and paste the API login and password.
- 4Dex validates the credentials with a live read of /api/Companies before saving.
- 5For MSPs, leave company_id blank on the MSP-master connection, then map each customer Dex tenant to its MSP360 company id (the company name resolves automatically).
Credentials required
- user_name
- The Managed Backup API login from Settings > General, created only by the account's main administrator
- password
- That login's API password. Regenerating the pair expires the previous one
- company_id
- Optional MSP scope - one MSP360 company id (GUID) confining this Dex tenant to that customer. Leave blank for the MSP-master connection that sees the whole account
- company_name
- Optional company name. Leave blank unless overriding - the connection resolves it from GET /api/Companies/{company_id} when company_id is set
Requirements
- •An MSP360 Managed Backup (Management Console) account with API credentials generated by the main administrator
- •The importer for nightly backup status requires an unscoped (MSP-master or standalone) connection - /api/Monitoring is account-wide and is refused on a child-scoped connection
- •Admin-only - this app has no end-user surface
- •MSP360 RMM device health, disks, software, and patch data live in the separate MSP360 RMM app
- •For MSPs, deploy as a global app with per-tenant scoping by MSP360 company id
