BackupRadar

Bring your BackupRadar backup monitoring into Dex - review backup status, drill into failures, and spot inactive or retired jobs in plain language.

Dex connects to the BackupRadar Public API v2 so admins can run backup monitoring conversationally - list a company's backups, filter by status, drill into one backup and its run history to answer "why is this failing / when did it last succeed", and review inactive and retired jobs. Read-only for this first ship. Available as an MSP global app: one shared ApiKey covers every BackupRadar company under the MSP, and each Dex tenant is confined to its own BackupRadar company by the exact company name string.

What Dex does with BackupRadar

Dex handles both admin workflows and employee self-service — all policy-guardrailed and audit-logged.

A

For admins (Dex Pro)

  • List a company's backups and filter by status, tag, backup method, device type, or days without success
  • Drill into one backup and its run results to see why it is failing and when it last succeeded
  • Count failing or warning backups for a company by reading the total on a filtered list
  • Review inactive and retired backups for a company
  • On the MSP master connection, list the company roster and read fleet-wide overview counts
  • Deploy as an MSP global app - one shared ApiKey, each customer confined to its BackupRadar company name

Just ask Dex

Your team types a request in plain language. Dex investigates, plans, and executes — with the right guardrails.

Admin prompts

  • >How many backups are currently failing for this company?
  • >Show me the failed backups and filter to anything with 3 or more days without success
  • >Why is the backup for "FIN-SRV-01" failing, and when did it last succeed?
  • >List the inactive backups for this company
  • >Which companies are in our BackupRadar roster?

Policy actions

Every action Dex can take on BackupRadar is declared, scoped, and guardrailed. Admins control which apply, who approves them, and whether they're limited to self-service.

How to configure BackupRadar

Onboarding takes minutes. Dex validates your credentials before saving them.

Setup steps

  1. 1
In BackupRadar, go to Settings > API and create an API key for Dex.
  2. 2
Note your BackupRadar region: US (api.backupradar.com) or EU (api-eu.backupradar.com).
  3. 3
In Dex, enable the BackupRadar integration and paste the API key and region, leaving the company blank for the MSP master connection.
  4. 4
On the master connection, read the company roster from GET /backups/filters to find each tenant's exact company name.
  5. 5
For each tenant, save its exact BackupRadar company name string so Dex confines every read to that company. Dex validates the name against the master roster with a live read before saving.

Credentials required
